I am pleased to report that north block renovations are nearing completion, meaning students will receive new timetables when they return after half term as staff move into their permanent bases. Students are reminded to take the shortest and most direct routes to classes to avoid congestion.

As we draw closer to half term, the enrichment programme is in full swing. The programme can be found here.

Congratulations to the following students who have successfully achieved their Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award, a remarkable accomplishment:

We now have 45 students in year 9 enrolled onto the Duke of Edinburgh award.

Five of our Y9 girls were invited to attend an NSPCC Board Meeting on Wednesday 2nd October, to give feedback on the impact of a play called ‘It’s not love’, delivered to JWA students last academic year: Annabel Quinn, Scarlett Cherry, Brooke Young, Izzy Malkinson and Elisha Wright.

The play was developed by students at York St John’s University, and tells the story of four young people who are in ‘toxic’ relationships. Our students were asked how the play had impacted upon them, and what they had learnt from the play.

Professionals in the meeting were extremely impressed with their views and knowledge about both ‘good’ and ‘bad’ relationships, and it is hoped that their input will secure funding for future projects with the NSPCC. Well done girls.

The Year 11 students have participated in a Lincs2 session to assist with their college applications. All students have been informed of their assigned dates, which are either Saturday, October 12th or Saturday, November 9th.

Our annual Remembrance service is fast approaching. More details will follow, including invites to family and friends.

Thank you for reading.
