Virtual Learning Environment

John Whitgift Academy’s Virtual Learning Environment (VLE)

A virtual learning environment is a web based learning system which we are in the process of developing and embedding within the academy.

Pupils can sign into the (VLE) at home and access resources, tasks, information which has been uploaded by different class teachers. Pupils could use the materials if they are absent from school, if they want to recap learning which has taken place within the school day or if they want to further enhance their learning.

As well as being able to access materials from all subject areas within the school, heads of year also have folders full of information specific for each

 year group.

The school council also has a folder where information on their meeting times, minutes and school information can be stored.

As the VLE develops further pupils will be able to submit and save work online, making the transition between homes and school much smoother.

A parents section is also being developed, where as a parent you will be issued with your own username and password so you can log in and see your child’s attendance, levels being awarded for each subject, as well as rewards and sanctions issued.

The link for pupils to log into the VLE is under the Useful Links / School Links tab.

Username and passwords for parents will be sent out in due course.
